Re: STRATEGIC AWARENESS ON HIV/AIDS PANDEMIC
By way of introduction we are a registered NGO which primary objective is to declare a total war against HIV/AIDS pandemic in our contemporary society. The greatest threat to industry and the population in the world today is not the economic uncertainty or global recession, but the danger of HIV/AIDS virus. If this issue is not confronted with a more aggressive prevention strategy, the entire work force and the professional class will soon be wiped off.
In our African society, a lot of young people are not aware of how to handle their reproductive and sexual life even if they are well educated. Ignorance and denial are invisible killers. With terrible effects of HIV/AIDS, educating and training young people for a behavioural change is a good and sure way to fight effectively the pandemic.
We are to sensitize the general public to the magnitude of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. This issue is getting out of hand!
So, for us to curtail it or at least stem the tide, we need to be supported by all those who are concerned about mankind.
The primary objective is to educate and bring awareness among young people on their reproductive and sexual health and train them as peer educators in order to fight against STI, early pregnancy and HIV/AIDS.
And also to start this awareness program for HIV/AIDS epidemics in a new, aggressive and strategic ways. We are to declare a total war against the spread. Also’ to move them from awareness level to the point where they will adopt behaviour and practices that will protect them against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS.
Our targets are: Heterosexuals/Lesbians/Gays/Bi-sexuals, Transgendered persons and commercial sex workers.
Our projects will involve organizing a massive awareness campaign, publication of educational materials on HIV/AIDS, drama sketches are to be staged to reinforce the knowledge and the reality of this deadly disease. Also posters and handbills are to be distributed in our secondary schools and higher institutions nationwide, training and skills development on HIV/AIDS education and prevention strategies will be adopted. Finally, mass media like billboards, and television programmes will be adopted as well.
Conclusively sir, we hereby solicit for your assistance, materially, financially, educationally/training and in all other areas your good organization can be of assistance to us in fighting against these epidemics. We have already mapped out some strategies to launch out our AIDS EDUCATION PROJECT 2005.
We are to be supported by those who are concerned about mankind that is why we have taken it upon ourselves to start this awareness program for the silent killer called AIDS! Until those that matter begin to pay adequate attention to this issue, we shall continue to be dealt with by HIV/AIDS virus slowly and steadily. This virus is having a devastating consequence for the future of our society and all measures are necessary to stem this epidemic.
We are facing a continent wide emergency. We cannot afford to treat AIDS as just one aspect of the battle for development, because it will not wait for us to win the battle. What we have is a pandemic out of control which is gravely threatening our nations, children and our future. We are an endangered continent.
Therefore the time to act is NOW!
