Jim Cashel is policy and medical professional concerned about global AIDS. He is Chairman of Forum One Communications, a Washington, D.C. Web strategy group, where he heads the AIDS Information Group. He is also is co-Director of the International AIDS Economics Network, a policy network of 9000 global AIDS economists and policymakers. In past years Jim has worked in medicine, international affairs, and technology, including work and travel in 50 countries. He speaks Spanish and Russian (or at least has studied them really hard), and has degrees from Stanford University, the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and Harvard Medical School. AIDS Matters is a Web resource for global AIDS professionals. The goal of the site is to highlight key policy issues and new resources relevant to the global fight against HIV / AIDS. The site pays particular attention to communications and information technology issues: AIDS is a fast-moving, global scourge that demands unprecedented levels of global coordination. Unfortunately, past strategies for global communications -- multilaterals, refereed journals, periodic international conferences -- simply don't move as fast as the epidemic.
